We took the Great Lake route from Devonport. This climbs out of Deloraine through some very impressive scenery before passing through the Central Plateau Conservation area. It runs alongside the Great Lake and crosses the high plateau. We cut across to the Derwent Valley and got to New Norfolk in time for lunch. And, by the way, who needs to go to Afghanistan to get their fix of poppies? We were checked into our Hobart hotel by early afternoon. This gave us time for an afternoon walk around Constitution Dock and for a drink in Salamanca Square. Later we ate at a restaurant overlooking the docks.
